VOICES: A Variety of Opportunities for Survivors

The VOICES Project of The Miles Foundation has received a large number of opportunities for survivors of sexual and domestic violence associated with the armed forces including interviews, research projects, multimedia exhibitions, etc.

The following is a compilation of the various opportunities.  If you are interested in an opportunity, please contact the staff person listed at the end of the opportunity. 

VOICES: Media/Interview
A journalist is seeking interviews with survivors of sexual assault associated with current deployed units.  The journalist is willing to discuss issues of privacy and anonymity.  Please contact Anita at 203-270-7861.

VOICES: Media/Interview
A journalist is seeking interviews with survivors of sexual assault associated with the midwestern region of the United States.  The journalist is interested in discussing the current status of services for survivors in the region.  For additional information, please contact Anita at 203-270-7861.

VOICES: Media/Interview
A producer for an international media outlet is seeking interviews with survivors of sexual assault associated with the armed forces.  The producer wants to interview survivors for the airing of a special investigative segment on the topic.  Please contact Anita for additional information at 203-270-7861.

VOICES: Panel Presentation
The Miles Foundation is coordinating a panel of survivors and advocates for a national conference in order to educate colleagues in the field as to the challenges for survivors of military sexual trauma.  If you are interested in participating on the panel, please contact Leah at 203-270-7861.

VOICES: Sexual Assault Awareness Month
A variety of opportunities exist for survivors of military sexual trauma to participate in Take Back the Night events during April 2008.  The majority of the events are local or regional.  If you are interested, please contact Naomi at 203-270-7861 for specifics.

VOICES: Survivors' Quilt Project
Panels/blocks crafted by survivors of military sexual trauma will be exhibited during various displays to commemorate Sexual Assault Awareness Month.  If you have crafted a panel/block to be exhibited, please contact Naomi at 203-270-7861.

VOICES: MultiMedia Opportunities/SAAM
Poetry, prose, paintings, drawings, video, etc. crafted by survivors of military sexual trauma are being sought for exhibition and performance during Sexual Assault Awareness Month.  The opportunities include a wide array of venues within the United States.  For more information, please contact Naomi at 203-270-7861.

VOICES: Task Force Members
Survivors of military sexual trauma and domestic violence are being sought to participate in regional task forces on sexual and domestic violence.  Task force members will attend meetings among advocates, service providers, state agencies, Federal authorities.  If you are interested, please contact Kate at 203-270-7861.  Please note these are regional opportunities for certain areas of the country.
