(Washington, D.C.) – Vietnam Veterans of America will hold its annual Mike Nash Memorial Scholarship Fund Golf Tournament on Thursday, July 17, at the SummerSett Golf Club in Greenville, South Carolina. The event will take place in conjunction with VVA’s biennial National Leadership Conference, which will bring together some four hundred Vietnam veteran advocates from around the nation, July 16-19, to take part in seminars, meetings, and other activities.
The shotgun-start tournament begins at 2:00 p.m. Players may register any time up to then. The cost per player is $75, which includes green fees, a cart, a box lunch, and beverage. Sponsorships also are available at $100 per hole.
“This is the prime fund-raising event for our Mike Nash Scholarship Program,” said VVA National President John Rowan. “Since 1991, this program has provided financial assistance to dozens of Vietnam era veterans, dependent children, grandchildren, and orphans and widows of Vietnam veterans for undergraduate studies. It’s one of the best things we do as an organization.”
The opening ceremonies for the conference will be held Wednesday, July 16, at 8:45 am, at the Hyatt Regency Greenville. VVA=s supporting organization, the Associates of Vietnam Veterans of America, will hold its biennial convention and national elections, and the Veterans of Modern Warfare (VMW) will have its founding National Convention concurrently with the Leadership Conference.
