CONFERENCE OF STATE COUNCIL PRESIDENTS REPORT
To The Mountain Top

There was no snow in the Rocky Mountains until the last day, but there were powerful winds in the valley. But they could not stop the Conference of State Council Presidents from having its Annual Winter Meeting in Colorado Springs, Colorado. It was a very productive learning experience for all who attended.

We had 30 of the 47 State Council Presidents present for this meeting. We started our meetings each day an hour earlier than normal because our agenda was so full and to make room for activities planned for Saturday afternoon.

At the meeting, we went over information on current and upcoming VVA business that will affect state councils in 2008. That included the upcoming VVA Leadership Conference, which will help the State Presidents better themselves to help their chapters. VVA National President John Rowan addressed concerns on a variety of issues, including the 25th Anniversary Parade, The Wall book, the Service Rep Programs, and VVAF. He also answered questions about VVA National operations. Having our National President there to address the CSCP was a big advantage.

We had seven presentations in addition to regular CSCP business. All were informative. The presentations were planned and presented by state presidents and by John Rowan. We also had heavy discussions during our round-table session, sharing information and answers to questions to help each State Council be more productive.

I would like to thank all the State Presidents who presented programs and John Rowan. With these presentations, the CSCP was able to learn more and learn how to work with National and with local chapters. Many thanks to John Rowan for taking time to be there to help us understand where VVA is heading. I would also like to give Jim Pace, president of the Washington State Council, a special “Thank You” for his help in putting together the Saturday afternoon activities.
