during World War II. During his 20-plus-year career, he served
two tours of duty in the Korean War and one in the Vietnam
War. He retired in 1966 as a Sergeant. He was a life member

Barrett, 62, died March 9 in West Milford, New Jersey, from

leaf cluster, and many other military awards. He was a member

Robert David Bowerman, 59, died February
15 in Munising, Michigan, from cancer. He served in the U.S.
Army from June 1970-73 with a tour of duty in Vietnam from
September 1971-72. He served as a medic on the USS Corpus
Christi Bay. He was a life member of Vietnam Veterans of
America-Munising Chapter 237.
Mary T. Brooks, 77, died in
Brookings, Oregon. She was a life member of Associates of
Vietnam Veterans of America-Brookings Chapter 757.
Howard
J. Broussard died March 13 in Port Arthur, Texas. He served

home in Keene, New Hampshire, from a heart attack. He served
in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam War from January

Robert Joseph Gieseler,
Jr., 57, died March
24, 2003, in Youngsville, Louisiana, from a drug overdose.
He served in the U.S. Army for four years, with two tours
of duty in Vietnam as an infantryman, paratrooper, and air
traffic controller with the 82nd Airborne Division. He suffered
from post-traumatic stress disorder, which was exacerbated
by the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. He was an at-large member
of Vietnam Veterans of America-Louisiana.

January 27 in Seaford, Virginia. He served in the U.S. Army
with service in Korea, Vietnam, Italy, Germany, and many
U.S. posts. He retired after 27 years of service at the rank
of Lieutenant Colonel. He was a life member of Vietnam Veterans
of America-Gloucester Chapter 813.
George W. Tucci, Jr., 65,
died January 21 in Stoneham, Massachusetts, from an inability
to fight infections from wounds received in Vietnam. He served
in the U.S. Army as a tank commander when his tank hit a
land mine in 1966 and the load exploded, propelling Tucci
out of his tank into a rice paddy. He was not expected to
live. He lost both legs, among other medical complications.
He was a member of Vietnam Veterans of America-Stoneham Chapter

Alfred P. Valenzuela, 62, died December 23,
2007, in Schulenburg, Texas, from heart failure. He served
in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War in duty stations
of Germany, Korea, and stateside as an aircraft engine repairman.

Chapter 870.

Gloria Ann Walker, 61, died April 25, 2006,
in Cleveland, Ohio, due to complications from lupus. She
served in the U.S. Army during the Vietnam War and retired
after 26 years of service at the rank of Master Sergeant.
She was a life member of Vietnam Veterans of America-Bay
Village Chapter 249.
Vincent L. Way, 59, died January 3, 2007,
in Havre de Grace, Maryland, of bacterial sepsis due to chronic
lymphocytic leukemia. He served in the U.S. Army with two
tours of duty in Vietnam with Army Intelligence, 1968-70,
and attained the rank of Sergeant. He was awarded the Bronze
Star and the Purple Heart. He was a member of Vietnam Veterans
of America-Port Deposit Chapter 722.
Michael D. Weiss, 60,
died November 19, 2007, in Brooklyn Park, Minnesota, of cardiac
arrest. He served in the U.S. Air Force during the Vietnam
War. He was a member of Vietnam Veterans of America-Braham
Chapter 684.
John Harvey Williams, 73, died February 4
from cardiac arrest, Alzheimer’s disease, and Parkinson’s
disease. He served in the U.S. Army with a tour of duty in
Vietnam from 1969-70 and retired after 20 years of service.
He was a member of Vietnam Veterans of America-Little River
Chapter 925.
Roger V. Wilson, 59, died in Van Buren, Arkansas.
He was a veteran of the Vietnam War and a life member of
Vietnam Veterans of America-Fort Smith Chapter 467.

P. Zoppi, 54, died in Linden, New Jersey. He was a veteran
of the Vietnam War and a member of Vietnam Veterans of America-Elizabeth
Chapter 779.
